Augmented Reality-Aided Communication

Using augmented reality to improve Human-Robot Collaboration in High-Risk Environments

by Christine Chang on May 02, 2019

Christine is interested in learning how to better inform humans who work collaboratively with robots by providing information via augmented reality (AR). She wants to increase human understanding of robot intent and planned paths, allowing for transparent negotiations to take place in spaces where humans and robots must work in concert. There are applications for this in areas from Amazon Fulfillment Centers to the International Space Station. Christine wants to fundamentally change the nature of human-robot interaction by exploring the ways we can both generalize and adapt AR technology to enable human-robot negotiation.
